From Contract to Keys: What to Expect When Building a Home with Tower

August 6, 2025

Building a home is a significant chapter in life; one filled with decisions, emotions, and a hope that the end result will reflect you and the life you want to build. At Tower Homes, we approach this process as a partnership rooted in collaboration and clarity.

From the first time you walk through our doors to the moment you receive your keys, our team is there to listen and guide. We understand that building or buying a new home can be stressful and overwhelming, so we’ve built processes to keep you feeling confident and informed at every stage.

Here’s what it looks like to build with Tower.

1. Lot & Plan Selection

When: As soon as you’re ready
Where: In your chosen community with a Tower agent

You’ve found a neighborhood that feels like home! Now, it’s time to pick your perfect fit. Our new home specialists will help you choose a homesite and floor plan that matches your lifestyle and budget. From here on out, you’re not just a customer. You’re part of the Tower family (One of us! One of us!).

 2. Financing & Purchase Agreement

When: Shortly after lot & plan selection
Where: With your Tower agent and preferred lender

With your floor plan chosen, it’s time to make things official. We’ll guide you through the financing process and walk you through your purchase agreement. This is where your new home moves from idea to reality.

3. Plan Review & Design Appointment

When: After your purchase agreement
Where: Tower Homes Design Center in Vestavia Hills

Now comes the fun part. Our design team will help you bring your vision to life, from paint colors and flooring to cabinets and lighting. You’ll also explore upgrade options to tailor your space to your needs (although we think you’ll love our standard features!). And don’t worry—we’ll help you balance style with budget and keep it all on track.

4. Electrical Walk

When: About 75 days before closing
Where: At your homesite

Once your home is framed, you’ll walk it with our construction team to finalize placements for outlets, lighting, fencing and more. We build your home to your specifications. It’s all part of our belief in doing things the right way, not just the easy way.

5. New Home Orientation

When: Around 14 days before closing
Where: At your homesite

Your new home is almost ready! At this appointment, you’ll do a full walkthrough with your Tower team, learn about your home’s features, and create a punch list of any items that need attention. Our commitment? All punch list items will be addressed before you ever sign the dotted line.

6. Closing Day (Yay!)

When: Scheduled in advance
Where: With your lender and title company or closing attorney

It’s here! The boxes are packed, and this is the day you’ve been dreaming about. You’ll sign the final documents and receive the keys to your new Tower home. But don’t worry, this isn’t the end. We’ll be here along the way to check in, answer any questions, and handle all your warranty requests.

Building With Values

What makes the Tower experience different? It’s the heart behind the homes we build. Our company is built on a foundation of core values that guide every interaction, every decision and every build:

We don’t cut corners. We finish what we start—100%.

Pursuit of Mastery
We believe in getting better every day. “Iron sharpens iron” isn’t just a phrase; it’s how we grow.

Championship Spirit
We bring energy, excellence, and accountability to everything we do.

When you build with Tower, you’re partnering with a team that genuinely cares. About quality, about people, and about doing what’s right.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to build a Tower home?
Timelines can vary by floor plan and location, but most homes take around 5–7 months from contract to closing. Your Tower agent will walk you through an estimated schedule at the beginning of your journey.

Can I make changes after construction has started?
Most structural changes must be finalized early in the process. However, we do build in touchpoints (like the design appointment and electrical walk) to make sure key details are aligned with your needs along the way.

Do I need to work with a specific lender?
No, but we highly recommend our preferred lenders. They’re familiar with our process and can help keep things moving smoothly.

What’s included in the price of the home?
Our homes include a wide range of standard features, but you’ll also have the option to select upgrades during your design appointment. We’ll provide a full breakdown so there are no surprises.

What if I notice something wrong after I move in?
You’re covered! We stand behind our work with our No-Nonsense Guarantee™ and warranty program, and our dedicated team is here to help long after the keys are in your hand.
